The Ferrari F1 driver, Carlos Sainz broke the hearts of the Red Bull faithful as he broke the team’s 2023 winning run at last weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix. A lot has been made about their recent outing. Amidst all the noise around it, Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner has applauded Sainz for his Singapore efforts.

Leading into the Singapore weekend, the Milton-Keynes-based team was the favorite to once again come out on top. However, while the outfit struggled during the whole three-day weekend, Christian Horner is pleased that at least, Red Bull‘s winning run was brought to an end by one of his former drivers.

Back in the day, Carlos Sainz used to drive for Toro Rosso(AlphaTauri) before moving on to other teams. While talking about the Spaniard, he said, “Congratulations, it was an impressive performance. If anyone had to beat us, I’m glad it was you.” Looking at Horner’s comments, it is pretty clear that he is immensely pleased with Sainz’s Singapore exploits.

The 29-year-old was pretty much flawless during the whole Singapore weekend. He was at the top of the timing sheets during most of the sessions. Sainz put the SF-23 through the absolute wringer during qualifying, and his pole position for the race was key in helping him score his first win of the 2023 F1 season.

Christian Horner and Co. have got their backs against the wall

While Christian Horner has wholeheartedly applauded Carlos Sainz for breaking Red Bull’s winning run, he is well aware of the fact that, for the first time this season, his team is on the back foot. Singapore has been an eye-opener and at the upcoming Japanese GP, several eyes will be on them.

However, despite all the negativity that has surrounded the team recently, one has to keep in mind that Red Bull’s RB19 is still a lethal weapon. Max Verstappen has been simply sensational behind it’s wheel. Considering this, the team would be hoping to get back to winning ways at the Suzuka International Race Course.

Red Bull managed a 1-2 finish last year at the free-flowing track and would be determined to replicate last year’s result. But it is not going to be easy as the lights of McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes have made huge strides in the right direction in recent races. This week’s Singapore GP is going to be a must-see event.
