Red Bull has truly obliterated competition in 2023. The Milton Keynes-based team has won all 12 season races, with Max Verstappen alone scoring more points than second-placed Mercedes. It is no surprise that such a historic season has delighted the Austrian team. Now, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner shared his views.
Horner was glad to see the work done by Red Bull paying off with the inception of the ground-effect era F1 in 2022. The Briton believed it was a quiet place for Milton Keynes alone at the front. However, Christian Horner praised the success of the team last season. When Verstappen won a record 15 races as he claimed his second world title.
The Red Bull team boss told ESPN Podcast, “It’s a lonely place when you’re at the top but I think the way the team has responded has been fantastic, and the results we achieved in ’22 were insane…” The Austrian team has gone a step further this year, with rivals not even being close to challenging Red Bull for race victories. As such, the 49-year-old could not comprehend the sheer scale of the team’s results. He stated, “The fact we might match that or even beat that in ’23 is beyond crazy.”

Christian Horner is sleeping better with Red Bull’s dominance

Red Bull fought tooth and nail with Mercedes in 2021 for the F1 world title. The battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went down to the last lap of the last race. Verstappen emerged victorious in the dramatic yet controversial season finale that ended the dominance of the Silver Arrows. However, Christian Horner was glad not to face stiff competition since then.
The 49-year-old mentioned that having a massive cushion of points in the standings this year has led to a better sleeping cycle for the Red Bull team boss. Horner even claimed that his hair started greying because of the 2021 championship battle. He explained, “I sleep better at the moment than I did in 2021! I’d rather have 250 points in the pocket than two. I didn’t have a single grey hair before [2021], it aged me.”
Thus, Christian Horner was glad to find Red Bull in its league this season. The 49-year-old believed that the Milton Keynes-based team had truly done a brilliant job. The Austrian team even set the record for the most consecutive wins for an F1 team in history. Although, it remains to be seen if Horner’s team wins all races this year.
