Christian Horner, the Red Bull Team Principal, has recently sat down and talked about the value that Max Verstappen brings to his team. Red Bull stream-rolled all of its competition last year, and the Dutchman had a huge role to play in it. Horner has been with the Milton-Keynes-based team for a long time and has been keeping tabs on the growth that Verstappen has been showing year after year.
The 2023 F1 campaign has also started on a very strong note for the Red Bull team, and Christian Horner ardently believes, that the reigning World Champion has played a massive role in alleviating the level of the team. While praising his prized possession, Horner added, “There isn’t another Max. If you look back at 2021 at the pressure he had at certain points he drove some incredible races.”
“In Zandvoort, his home nation had turned it into a flipping nightclub for the weekend. The noise on the grid, the expectation, the royal family was there. I remember watching him getting ready for the race, just a 24-year-old lad, he had this amazing ability to detach himself from what was going on around him and just be in the moment. He drove an incredible race, and won it, but there was no crowd surfing at the end of it. It was just on to the next one.”
Christian Horner, on one hand, has praised the Dutchman for what he brings to the Austrian team and on the other, has shed light on how Verstappen is able to detach himself from what is going on around him in order to get in his zone. Moreover, to put a bit of weight behind his statement, he has pointed to Verstappen last year’s home race at Zandvoort.
Max Verstappen was sensational in that race, as despite the pressure of racing in front of his die-hard fans, he did not succumb to it and went on to put on a great show for all his fans. This speaks volumes about the kind of caliber Verstappen has got in him as an F1 driver. At just 25 years of old age, he is considered as one of the best to ever step foot in the sport.

Max Verstappen has got his sights set on securing the 2023 F1 title
The last time Max Verstappen faced a stiff challenge for the F1 World Championship was in 2021, when he and Lewis Hamilton were at each other’s throats pretty much the entire season. However, since then, no one has been able to get close to the Verstappen. In 2022, he outclassed every other driver on the F1 grid, and the same is expected to happen this year.
Red Bull’s RB19 is being considered a rocketship by many pundits of the sport, and in the hands of Verstappen, it has so far proved to be a lethal weapon. He can drive the machinery at its absolute limit, and an example of this was seen during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The Dutchman, despite starting P15, was able to make his way up on the standings and was able to secure P2 comfortably. Moreover, he could score the sole point for the fastest lap of the race.
Considering all this, it won’t come as a huge surprise if Max Verstappen is again seen dominating his competition during the 2023 F1 season. Currently, he is leading the Drivers Championship and is expected to continue as the leader for the rest of the campaign. However, his teammate Sergio Perez also improved massively compared to last year. Would Perez be able to become a nuisance for Verstappen? Or would the Dutchman again dominate the F1 World Championship?
