Red Bull boss Christian Horner made a guest appearance at the Sky Sports Podcast with Matt Baker. In the same podcast, Horner revealed some fun facts about the reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

In the podcast, Horner spilled some bean over Max Verstappen’s popstar crush. The Red Bull boss commented that he didn’t know that someone like Verstappen would have a huge crush on the Welsh singer Tom Jones. Horner recalled the Brazilian race where he put Tom Jones on the radio after his victory in the race.

It started in Brazil with Tom Jones. I didn’t know that Max was such a big Tom Jones fan and it was his father who told me in the celebration for his world championship in Qatar, ‘when we were driving around Europe in our van we used to play a lot of Tom Jones and Green Green Grass’.

Subsequently, after the Dutchman’s win in Brazil, the team boss played Tom Jones through the radio and sure enough Verstappen started to sing the song right away. And later when Christian Horner was questioned if the tradition would continue next year, Horner replied humorously and said that he needs to start winning races again. The Briton also added that he was a better Tom Jones than he was a Elvis Presley at the Las Vegas GP.

I played it out for him the next day ["Green, green grass"] in Brazil and sure enough he started singing away. Who knows, he needs to start winning again so... He was a better Tom Jones than he was a Elvis Presley.

Max Verstappen also sang Viva Las Vegas at the Las Vegas GP

The Tom Jones sing along wasn’t the first for the reigning world champion. At the inaugural Las Vegas GP this season, Verstappen was asked to sing along to the song Viva Las Vegas starring Elvis Presley. In the American race, Verstappen emerged victorious and concluded a great win at the inaugural GP.

Although Verstappen wasn’t on board with the entire sing-along idea, in the spirit of the moment he decided to give in and sing the song. Horner was the one who played the song through the radio and put the race-winner on the spot to sing the song to impress the American fans.

The 26-year-old driver has had a blast of a season this time around due to a lot of fun incidents around the races. Verstappen ensures to enjoy his races throughout as he takes a huge lead pretty early on in the races. Hence, he created a lot of fun moments for the fans to cherish over.
