Daniel Moxon envisions Pierre Gasly as a possible replacement for Lewis Hamilton after Red Bull snub

Pierre Gasly and Lewis Hamilton

Pierre Gasly has been absolutely brilliant for AlphaTauri ever since he joined them. The Frenchman already has win to his name and 3 wins to go with it. We need to understand that the value of these podiums is priceless as it has come for a team which is always there and there about in that midfield battle. These are the kinds of performances that earned him that coveted Red Bull seat after he replaced Daniel Ricciardo.

That fairytale did come to a premature ending as Christian Horner ran out of patience with Gasly’s average performances and shockingly demoted him back to rebranded Alpha Tauri. He was replaced by Alex Albon in the middle of season and that’s something he definitely took to heart. Gasly bounced back quickly to have a terrific 2020 season with Alpha Tauri as he racked up 75 points as compared to his team mate’s 32.

This gave way to speculations of him returning to Red Bull but all of that was shut down after the Milton Keynes outfit renewed the contract of the in-form Sergio Perez. We can’t say that nobody saw that coming as the Mexican has been in a rich vein of form lately proving to be a potential title contender. What this means that Pierre Gasly would have to look elsewhere to make that jump to a top team.

Daniel Moxon reckons that he could be a potential replacement for Lewis Hamilton if the veteran decides to hang his boots. He wrote, “In theory that would come a little too soon for Gasly, who is contracted to AlphaTauri until the conclusion of the 2023 campaign.”

“But if the Silver Arrows decided to offer the Frenchman his second chance at a top team, it would be harsh of the Red Bull group to deny him that opportunity – even if it was their bitter rivals who were knocking at the door.”

If not Mercedes, then the next best option may well be McLaren,” as reported by mirror.

Pierre Gasly has been one of the most consistent drivers in F1 and definitely deserves a second chance to prove his mettle with a top top team. It could be Mercedes or McLaren as all the other teams have their drivers locked up for the foreseeable future.
