Daniel Ricciardo reveals his interest in marking his F1 return with Red Bull in the most sought-after seat
Daniel Ricciardo entertained the idea about making it back on the F1 grid with Red Bull Racing.

Daniel Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo spends a year on the sidelines in 2023 as the Australian driver gets on a reserve role at Red Bull Racing. This comes as a homecoming for Ricciardo after the 33-year-old spent 5 seasons at the Austrian tea. Subsequently, Danny Ric admitted that he would be delighted to race full-time for the team in the future.
The Australian had previously mentioned that he would only make a return to the F1 grid with a front-running team. Accordingly, Daniel Ricciardo had declined potential talks with the Haas F1 team for a seat for this season. It is thus no wonder that the 33-year-old entertained a possible full-time role at Red Bull. Danny Ric has already been on the team’s simulator this year.
Daniel Ricciardo said, “Truthfully Red Bull is the number one seat, that’s what I would love.” The 33-year-old is aware of the credentials of the team as it stays a league ahead of its rivals. Although for now, this might not seem realistic. However, tensions have risen between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez this season. As such, Ricciardo could serve as a good replacement if the need arises.

“He’s desperate to get a run,” Christian Horner on Daniel Ricciardo’s enthusiasm

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner mentioned that Daniel Ricciardo was up and running with the simulator. As the 33-year-old provided useful data. Horner said, “I think he likes the feel of the car in the virtual world which seems to correlate well with what we’re seeing in the actual world.” Christian further stated Ricciardo’s apparent eagerness in getting to drive the RB-19.
He continued, “I think he’s desperate to get a run in the car at some point to validate that,” Moreover, the Red Bull Team boss believed that Daniel Ricciardo had worked intensively to drive 2023 F1 machinery. Christian concluded, “I think that he’s training hard, and he’s ready to go given the chance.” Perhaps Horner was hinting at Ricciardo driving the RB-19 later this year.
Thus it seems that Daniel Ricciardo has not written off the possibility of racing for Red Bull in F1. The Australian driver left the team after 2018 and subsequently had a few underwhelming seasons with Renault and McLaren. However, Ricciardo is hungry as ever to prove his worth on the grid once again. However, the door for Danny at Red Bull remains closed for now.
