Daniel Ricciardo, the former McLaren racing driver was announced as Red Bull’s third driver for 2023. The last couple of seasons have been rough for the Australian. McLaren announced Oscar Piastri as their line-up alongside Lando Norris replacing Ricciardo. It was unfortunate that the team ended their deal early.
While there were several rumours of Ricciardo retiring from F1 the driver bagged a role as the third driver for Red Bull. Ricciardo made his first official appearance with Red Bull Racing during their car launch that took place in New York. It was then the team announced their partnership with Ford.
During the RBR launch event, the drivers, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo were spotted wearing the team’s new merchandise. It was not until now that Ricciardo was spotted in his Red Bull overalls. Daniel Ricciardo has several podiums and seven wins with Red Bull already. This is not his first encounter with this team.
The Australian shared an image of him on Instagram in the new Red Bull suit. With his signature grin, he captioned the picture, “Familiar and cute,” which refers to his time back in Red Bull. He had previously left the team to forge a path of his own in his career. Unfortunately, that did not bode well for the driver.

Daniel Ricciardo will be seen taking part in the testing sessions, helping the team with the simulator work and other commercial activities. All this being said, his Red Bull contract does not include a promotion, the Australian is fine with it. He will contribute in all the ways he can for the team that includes tyre testing as well.
The Red Bull team principal believes that Daniel’s role will be vital for Verstappen to win a third championship. Red Bull has one of the strongest line-ups in the grid without any doubt and Daniel’s experience will be of use to the team, claims Christian Horner. The driver will be seen in the Red Bull garage this season.
