Daniel Ricciardo’s words fall through as reports reveal no deal for him at McLaren

Daniel Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo future in Formula 1 has been one.of the most talked-about topics in the F1 fans’ communities because of the poor performance displayed by the Australian racer in the Formula 1 2022 season. Just a few weeks ago, the Honey Badger dismissed all rumors about him leaving the McLaren at the end of this year to move to some other racing league such as IndyCar, etc. He said that he is confident in his abilities and will be staying in Formula 1 for the next season.
Now, recent news has broken out about the McLaren’s driver situation, and it seems that Daniel’s future is not as secure as he was considering it to be since Oscar Piastri is all but confirmed to sign with McLaren for the new season. This has come out after the young racer denied having agreed to a deal with Alpine even though the French team publicly announced Piastri’s appointment as their newest recruit.

Daniel Ricciardo’s future in Formula 1 is uncertain as McLaren eyes a contract with Oscar Piastri

As the situation stands right now for Daniel Ricciardo, it is only going to be a matter of a few days before McLaren announces they are terminating his contract and signing the deal with Piastri. In fact, this makes sense as Zak Brown has always said that McLaren would like to bring young racers like Lando Norris into Formula 1, and thus, the team would give up Daniel Ricciardo, who has already been in F1 for over a decade, to take Oscar Piastri in his place.
Now, the onus is on Daniel Ricciardo to find himself a seat in one of the F1 teams before the 2023 season starts off. Associated Press Journalist Jenna Fryer has revealed that Ricciardo will have time till about September to decide whether he would like to continue with McLaren in 2023. If this happens, then the Woking-based team will have to pay a fee to break their contract with him prematurely to take up Oscar Piastri. Whatever be the case, in the end, it looks like Ricciardo’s days in McLaren are numbered.
But the wiser choice for him would be to find himself a team at the earliest and not wait it out as it might happen that the Australian driver will not find any vacant seat for him in 2023 if he wait too long.
