David Coulthard hints Max Verstappen would beat Lewis Hamilton in the same car

Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 World Champion, has been on an absolute warpath in the sport since 2022. He has operated in a league of his own, and the former Red Bull driver, David Coulthard, has admitted that Verstappen would have the edge over the former 7-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, in the same car.
Lewis Hamiton has been mesmerizing fans since the 2007 season of F1 and is one of the greats ever to lay foot into the sport. However, despite the Brit’s sensational record, David Coulthard feels it would be tough to go up against the prolific Max Verstappen in the same machinery.
Coulthard talked to his former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan in the “Formula For Success” podcast about how Hamilton and Verstappen will win when they are pitted against each other on the same car; at this stage of their careers. Jordan pointed out the Dutch driver has the age advantage and would come out on top. The Former Red Bull driver agreed that it could happen as Hamilton has more commitments outside racing compared to Verstappen.
“I think Lewis still has it in him. If they were on the same team, there would be some contact. It would be a Prost-Senna.” When asked for more clarity, he hinted that the defending world champion would have an edge, saying, “Lewis seems like a busy kid off the track with all his passions. And as we know Max, when he’s not on track, is very focused on his simulator, and his esports team and totally immersed in all things driving. has to do,” David Coulthard said (H&T: Motorsports.Com).

Max Verstappen is on course to secure his third consecutive F1 title
While David Coulthard has backed Max Verstappen to get the better of Lewis Hamilton in the same machinery, the former has been doing brilliantly during the ongoing campaign. It is on course to clinch his third consecutive Formula 1 World Championship. He is currently leading the standings by a handsome margin.
The 2023 F1 season is currently in its summer break, and just like the rest of the other F1 drivers, Verstappen is also enjoying his time off to hit the ground running straightway from the 25th of August onward. Moreover, the upcoming race is the Dutchman’s home Grand Prix.
The Zandvoort F1 circuit would be painted orange by the fans during the three days, and considering this, Max Verstappen would be looking to put in a stellar performance in front of his fans. The Dutch Grand Prix could be extremely challenging for the other 19 drivers.
