Legendary dutch DJ Tïesto snubs countryman Max Verstappen and backs Sergio Perez to win 2023 F1 world title at Miami Qualis
The Miami GP Qualifying Round was attended by several celebrities, and one of the most notable one among them was Dutch DJ Tïesto.
Ever since its debut in the Formula One calendar last year, the Miami Grand Prix has been a hub for the who’s-who of Hollywood. Apart from famed actors, the race in Florida has seen several influencers, models, and even popstars drop by at the Miami International Autodrome to witness the events of the weekend. Adding to the net worth of the guests at Miami GP, billionaire businessmen Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos were seen out and about in the paddock during the Qualifying Round for the Main Race.
Despite having such high-profile celebrities on their guest roster, the Miami GP authorities chose EDM sensation Tïesto to present the Qualifying Pole Position trophy to Sergio Perez. The Dutch DJ is one of the biggest names in his industry, and fans all around the world were excited to hear him speak at the Miami Grand Prix where Sergio Perez snatched P1 after Charles Leclerc’s accident called for cancellation of the rest of the Q3 session.
But once Tïesto talked to Sergio Perez, his comments shook the entire Formula One world. It is well-known that the DJ is from Netherlands, like Max Verstappen. Now, Max is aiming for his Championship hattrick this season and his own Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez seems to be his biggest threat. Tïesto, instead of backing his country’s pride Verstappen for winning the World Championship, told Sergio Perez, “I hope you win it this year.”

Fans reckon F1 is not ‘serious’ as Tïesto hands out the Quali trophy to Sergio Perez instead of Musk and Bezos
The Miami GP had two of the world’s richest men, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Tesla’s Elon Musk present there. Jeff Bezos was accompanied by his girlfriend Lauren Sánchez as the two headed for the McLaren pits and Musk was there by himself at the invitation of Red Bull. But when it came to handing out the pole position trophy, it was the Dutch DJ Tïesto who was seen onstage with Sergio Perez.
Here is what the fans had to say about Tïesto’s appearance at the Miami GP Qualifiers–
In other news, the Miami Qualis have given Sergio Perez the perfect grounds to snatch a second consecutive race win. If the Mexican snatches victory at the Main Race, he will get to the top of the Championship Standings for the first time in his life. Now, it remains to be seen if Checo manages to get the job done, or if his teammate Max Verstappen rises from his P9 position to sabotage Checo’s lead in the Miami Grand Prix.
