Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have been arch-nemeses in Formula 1 ever since Verstappen rose to the top, challenging Hamilton in his era of dominance. The two were locked in a tight championship battle in 2021, where Verstappen controversially emerged as the winner.
While the rivals may be against each other, Verstappen’s compatriot and former F1 driver Christijan Albers believes they stand alone as the two best drivers on the grid. Albers, who is now an F1 reporter, claimed that in terms of consistency and race pace, Hamilton and Verstappen are currently unmatched in their quality of racecraft.
Hamilton, like Verstappen, is someone who can manage his tyres wonderfully. Assessing certain situations, feeling the rubber, in that respect, they are alone at the top.Albers said, as reported by silverarrows.net
Hamilton fought Verstappen for many race wins in 2023, though unable to make any of the attempts in a season dominated by the Red Bull sensation. Hamilton did finish third in the championship, looking to improve in 2024 with the upgraded W15 challenger.
Former Red Bull driver warns Max Verstappen of Lewis Hamilton threat
Lewis Hamilton was dominating F1 until his 2021 title loss to Max Verstappen. Since then, the Briton has not won a single race in F1, despite a top-three finish in 2023 in the standings. Hamilton achieved multiple second-place finishes, but could not take the chequered flag.
Hamilton has signed a contract extension with Mercedes and is looking for a chance at redemption against Verstappen. 2005-06 Red Bull driver Christian Klein warned Verstappen of an incoming threat, claiming Hamilton remains at the top of his racing form, completely capable of challenging for the championship.
You should not underestimate Lewis. He is a top-class driver. If he has the right car and finds extra motivation, then he can definitely be one who gives Max a run for his money.Klein said in an interview with RacingNews365
Verstappen achieved a hat trick of championships in 2023, setting multiple records in the process. With a seven-time world champion hot on his tail, the Dutch champion will be hoping to continue his dominance into the 2024 season.
