Eddie Jordan backs Max Verstappen to overtake Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher as the ‘GOAT’ of Formula 1
Eddie Jordan insists that Max Verstappen has what it takes to become the greatest driver in F1 history.

Max Verstappen is arguably the strongest driver in F1 currently. The 25-year-old has dominated the sport with the new ground-effect regulations. Verstappen holds the record for the most wins in a single season, with 15 race victories in 2022. The Dutchman is presently looking set for a third consecutive world title. Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan believes Max will further solidify his historical place.
Statistically, Verstappen still has a long way to go to become the best driver in F1. The Dutchman will have to at least match the joint championship record of Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher with seven titles each. Yet, Eddie is convinced that when a driver is as naturally talented as the two-time world champion, he will eventually beat those records.
Jordan stated, “For me, I really do believe in time he will turn out to be the greatest driver of all time.” The 75-year-old hoped that Max would be in good health and continue racing at the pinnacle of motorsport for a long time. The former F1 team boss praised the 25-year-old’s cleverness and aggression as the Dutchman adapts according to the need of a situation.

Max Verstappen needs Red Bull to stay “as strong as it is”: Eddie Jordan
Red Bull suffered a major blow after the death of the company’s founder Dietrich Mateshitz in late 2022. The energy drinks giant has undergone major changes, including in the Red Bull sister team Alpha Tauri. Jordan insisted that Max Verstappen would need the Milton-Keynes team to stay intact and as efficient as it is presently.
Although the 75-year-old was confident that with Adrian Newey and Christian Horner, Verstappen’s career was in safe hands, at least in the short term, however, Jordan believed that for drivers other than the Dutchman, an F1 world title seemed to be a distant dream. Eddie Jordan said, “I would not like to be a driver in Formula One at the moment, hoping to become a World Champion because I don’t know where it’s going to come from.”
Thus, Eddie Jordan insists that Max Verstappen has what it takes to become the greatest driver in Formula 1. Certainly, the Dutchman has showcased his immense talent time and time again. The 25-year-old aiming to win the title once again this season. However, it remains to be seen if Verstappen can live up to the high expectations laid down by Jordan in the future.
