The Aston Martin F1 driver Lance Stroll has been under the pump during the 2023 F1 season. He is getting smacked with criticism from every corner of the F1 paddock. Amidst all the negativity, former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan has also asked the Canadian driver to step up his game to keep racing in F1.

Lance Stroll has been nowhere near the stupendous performances that his former 2-time Word Champion teammate, Fernando Alonso, has been churning in regularly. Stroll has massively fallen short against the might of the Spanish driver and, because of that, has come under a lot of pressure.

The 24-year-old has not been under this much pressure ever in his F1 career. Eddie Jordan, while talking about him on the Formula for Success podcast, said, “I think there’s been some elements of misfortune in his run this year, but is it any surprise in one of the most difficult transitional qualifying sessions that you’ve seen this year, and in Monaco as well, that one young, brilliant talent and an older brilliant talent find their way onto the front row?

So there’s a point where you can’t keep making excuses. This is a stopwatch competition, and a certain point that is what will dictate what teams choose to do in the future. I’m sure you had drivers in the car that you didn’t truly believe was a Michael Schumacher or whatever, because they were paying the bills, but you needed to do that,” he added.

Fernando Alonso, despite being 41 years old, has been able to put the AMR23 through the wringer regularly. He has been simply incredibly inside its cockpit, and this is the reason why he is currently third in the Drivers Championship with 117 points to his name. He is only 9 points behind Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.

While Alonso has been romping past cars for fun during the ongoing campaign, Lance Stroll, on the other hand, is finding it incredibly difficult just to keep pace with the midfield runners. As things stand, he is currently on 37 points in the Championship and is in danger of getting overtaken by Alpine’s Esteban Ocon who has scored 29 points.

The 2023 F1 picture is not looking too bright for Lance Stroll at the moment, but considering that he has got a lethal weapon in the form of the AMR 23 underneath him this year, the upcoming few Grand Prix events could prove to be a game changer for him. He just needs to put his mind to the game and start producing consistent performances.
