Esteban Ocon has been competing at the pinnacle of motor racing on an off-and-on basis for quite some time. He has been with Alpine(Renault) since 2020 but has to date scored only one victory. Keeping everything in view, he has claimed that it is painful for him to see Max Verstappen’s F1 success.
The reigning world champion has been dominating the sport since 2022 and has so far amassed three consecutive world championships. Esteban Ocon feels a bit dejected seeing Max Verstappen’s success but has made it known that his time will come.

It is a pain, for sure. But I'm working still as if we are going for wins and podiums after every weekend. You have to re-adjust your target and my target is to get the best out of the car every race weekend. I believe if I work hard and do well on the track then my time will come. One day I will have a car that I can compete in for championships and wins. I'm looking forward to that.Esteban Ocon said, via RacingNews365.
Looking at the reaction of Ocon, it is quite clear that it is difficult for him to see Max Verstappen winning at the front end of the grid on a regular basis. However, despite this, has emphasized that he is sure that his time to make his mark will also come somewhere down the line.
Esteban Ocon is contracted to Alpine until the end of 2024
While Esteban Ocon has his eyes set on doing something special in the sport in the upcoming years, he needs to do a solid 2024 campaign in order to extend his current contract. The Frenchman’s current deal with the Enstone-based team will come to a close at the end of next year’s campaign.

Moreover, his teammate, Pierre Gasly, is also in the same boat. Ocon had a pretty average 2023 F1 season behind the wheel of the A523 whereas his teammate managed to get the jump on him in the Driver’s Championship. The former managed 58 points whereas Gasly put on board 62.

Considering this fact, it is going to be immensely crucial for Esteban Ocon to somehow keep Pierre Gasly at bay during the 2024 F1 season. In all likelihood, the Alpine Formula 1 team would be willing to extend the contract of only one driver beyond next year’s campaign of the sport.
