Max Verstappen has been in sensational form during the 2023 F1 season and is well on course to securing his third consecutive World Championship. Verstappen is only 25 years old. Seeing his ever-growing stature at the pinnacle of motor racing, the 1971 Champion, Jody Scheckter, has claimed he can break Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher’s long-standing F1 record.

The prolific duo has got 7 World Championships each to show for their efforts over the years, and Jody Scheckter firmly believes that Max Verstappen is the one who could break their sensational record. He has got the age factor on his side and has got the caliber to make the Championship record his own.

While talking about the same, Scheckter said, as reported by GP Fans, “I think it’d be boring, well, I fought hard for my wins and they came every now and again. But no, it’s incredible. Obviously, he’s been superior to his teammates all the time. Doesn’t matter who went in there, and he’s got the car to win now. I think it’s all together, granted, can’t put anything against it.”

If he has this dominance all the time, it could be maybe eight [world championships], I don’t know.” Looking at the comments of the former World Champion, it is quite clear that he is immensely impressed with what Max Verstappen has been able to do in his Formula 1 career so far. He genuinely feels if anyone can break the championship record, it’s none other than Verstappen.

The turbo hybrid era at the pinnacle of motor racing ended after the 2021 season, and since then, no one has been able to stand tall against Max Verstappen. After facing some initial resistance from the lights of Charles Leclerc in 2022, he decimated all his rivals that year.

Moreover, when it comes to the ongoing campaign, he has taken his dominance to a whole new level and is currently on a winning streak of ten consecutive races. The RB19 has proved to be an incredible weapon, and its powers multiply whenever Verstappen takes it out a track for a spin.

After fourteen rounds, Max Verstappen has so far managed 364 points and has made the 2023 title a formality for him. He has got a long-term contract at Red Bull that runs until the end of 2028, and considering this, he could equal or surpass Hamilton and Schumacher’s record if he manages to keep up his dominant run.
