Ex-F1 driver claims the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP drama involving Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton ‘was a travesty of justice’

Arguably the most controversial race in the modern era of Formula 1 was the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2021. The season finale saw the battle for the Drivers’ Championship go down to the wire as the two rivals started in first and second on the grid equal on points.
Lewis Hamilton led the whole race until Nicholas Latifi crashed out, bringing a safety car out. Max Verstappen behind made a pit stop for new tires, coming out behind four lapped cars that followed Hamilton. Breaching regulations, the race director Michael Masi let the lapped cars through, effectively giving the Dutchman a major advantage in his title bid.

Perry McCarthy, a former F1 driver shared his views on the controversial race more than two years after its conclusion. McCarthy claims that the race was a “travesty of justice” and that the championship’s result and outcome were completely unjustified.
I am certainly not alone with my opinion on the outcome of the 2021 world championship. It was a travesty of justice. I’m sorry if there are Red Bull fans out there and Max Verstappen fans out there. This is nothing against Max, it’s nothing against Red Bull, a brilliant racing team and absolutely brilliant racing driver, but that race result was incorrect.Perry McCarthy said, as reported by silverarrows.net
The result of the championship had remained unchanged by the FIA, and the president Mohammed Ben Sulayem spoke about his reception of the issue. Mercedes has repeatedly called out the organization that manages F1 for its alleged miscarriage of enforcing regulations.
Rapper Will.i.am reveals Lewis Hamilton’s redemption arc for the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP loss
American rapper Will.i.am has been associated with the sport of F1 for years, referencing the sport in numerous songs, and even collaborating with F1 for some releases. The rapper is a close friend of Lewis Hamilton’s from years ago.

Willi.i.am, who made music with Hamilton years ago, feels that the 2021 Abu Dhabi was “snatched away” from his British friend. The 48-year-old rapper feels that it is only a matter of time before Hamilton regains the confidence to compete for another world championship.
Anybody will struggle with something being snatched. Just a matter of time for him (Hamilton). He just has to figure it out once and history is made. I say we just let the master do what he is really good at.
Hamilton finished third in the championship in 2023, a step up from sixth place in 2022, his lowest-ever finish in the standings. With an upgraded W15, the septuple champion could find an opportunity to fight for a record-breaking eighth title.
