The world knows the infamous 2021 rivalry between Formula 1 stars Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. The two are easily one of the best drivers on the modern grid. Amidst their now and then tussles, former F1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella has admitted that he would rather have the Dutchman as a team than the former 7-time World Champion.

Max Verstappen has proved to be the most dominant driver at the pinnacle of motor racing in recent years, and since 2022, none of the other drivers have been able to do what he has managed. He has completely decimated his competition under the new regulations and has won the bulk of the races.

While Giancarlo Fisichella has admitted that Max Verstappen would be his teammate preference ahead of Lewis Hamilton, some of the reasoning behind his decision could be the Dutchman’s scintillating form during the ongoing 2023 Formula 1 season. As things stand, he is comfortably leading the Drivers Championship.

The ongoing campaign is 13 rounds down. Verstappen has managed a mammoth 314 points with a highly impressive ten wins; moreover, his nearest rival, Sergio Perez, has only managed 189 in the same number of F1 outings. The way the season has panned out so far, it is looking very likely that the Dutchman is again going to win the title.

If this is the case, then it would be Max Verstappen’s third consecutive Drivers Championship triumph at the pinnacle of motor racing. The first race after the end of the ongoing summer break is the Dutch Grand Prix, and considering that it is Verstappen’s home race, several eyes will be on him at the free-flowing circuit.
