The Dutchman Max Verstappen has single-handedly put forth one of the most dominant seasons ever in Formula 1. Verstappen also shattered multiple records in F1 and etched his name in the record books. Former F1 driver, Gerhard Berger commented on this domination from Verstappen.
The Austrian former driver talked about Verstappen and further applauded his impressive performance this season. Berger exclaimed that Verstappen was a driver who always gave his 120% in a race just like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. He also talked about how Verstappen is back on the grind for the following season already over the winter break.
Max is a racing driver who always gives 120 per cent, just like Senna or Schumacher used to, or Hamilton does now. But I’m sure Max is back in the simulator and playing with all his racing cars again already.Berger said, as reported by express.co.uk.
Berger was further quizzed about his thoughts on the Dutchman being the most dedicated driver in Formula 1, and to this, he responded with surety. The Austrian exclaimed that he lives with every fiber of his body to the sport. He also coined Verstappen as the ‘best racing driver of all time’ and termed him his favorite driver.
For sure. He simply lives with every fibre of his body for his sport, for Formula 1. That is his passion. For me, he is the world’s best racing driver of all time.
How many records did Max Verstappen shatter this season
The Dutchman shattered a lot of records solely from his dominant performance this season. Verstappen held the record for the highest win percentage in a single season at an astonishing 86%, bashing the old record from Alberto Ascari of 75%. In addition to the win percentage, Max also held a record for the most wins in a season.
Max Verstappen also scored 575 points (the highest points scored ever by an F1 driver). These points have stacked up the super license fee to a whopping 1.2 Million dollars just to renew the super license instead of the points scored by him in the season. The reigning world champion also led an astounding 1003 laps in a season setting a much higher score than the previous record.
The team has once again talked about replicating the same performance as in this season. However, multiple people on the grid have commented that it would be nearly impossible to have a similar season this time around. However, the team is optimistic of a similar performance for the following season alongside Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
