F1 announces surprise pre-Miami GP event with Lewis Hamilton, makes yet another effort to amp up revenues
F1 is going to organise a pre-race conference before the Miami GP starring Lewis Hamilton in hopes of increasing revenues from the US.
Formula 1 has managed to gain a strong foothold in the US Market. The popularity of the single seater series has only gone up ever since Drive to Survive aired in the US. Formula 1 is trying to make use of this popularity to their advantage and increase it even more, which is quite evident given that there are three Grands Prix being run now in the United States in a year. Last year, the Miami GP was a massive success. This year, the Las Vegas GP will return after a long time, and it will be the most expensive Formula One race till date. Now, F1 has decided to amp up the revenues of the Miami GP with a pre-race conference, and it will feature Lewis Hamilton.
Known as the F1 Accelerate Summit, the conference will take place on the Thursday of the Miami Grand Prix weekend, the first of the three races set to be held in the United States. Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton will be accompanied by other figures from the world of Formula 1, such as Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and the CEO of McLaren Racing, Zak Brown.
This event will go on for about six hours and has been described as a chance for “trailblazers from the worlds of sports, entertainment and business to discuss how they can make a significant impact on the future of technology, performance, diversity and sustainability, not only in their own business but across industries and culture.” The CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei will also be present during the event. Maffei and Stefano Domenicali would be the people to set the ball rolling after which an interview session with Lewis Hamilton is scheduled. The theme for the interview would be “The Catalyst for Change.” Lewis Hamilton would be the perfect person to speak on such a topic as he has been very vocal about his mission to promote diversity and inclusion in the world of Motorsports as well as in the general world.
The F1 Accelerate Summit will be marked by the appearance of many star figures from various walks of life
After all of this gets over, Zak Brown, Stefano Domenicali and Greg Maffei will then be joined by Susie Wolff who is the current managing director of the F1 Academy. The managing partner of the Miami Grand Prix and the CEO of the Hard Rock Stadium, Tom Garfinkel will also join the chat. This session “invites the leaders of the sport to lift the curtain for an exclusive look at what is next for F1.”
The list however, doesn’t end there. Director and producer duo Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski will also be part of this event. These two are the people who are working the Formula 1 movie that Lewis Hamilton is involved with. The duo is expected to present an “exclusive look” at their new project. Other people who would be present at the event are Manish Pandey – the creative head of the 2010 movie Senna, Former F1 driver David Coulthard, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff and tennis legend Maria Sharapova.
