Max Verstappen, the reigning World Champion, had an eventful outing during the 2023 Azerbaijan GP Sprint race. He made contact on lap 1 with George Russell’s W14 and, for that, blamed the Brit for not being extra cautious on the first lap of the race. The contact cost Verstappen dearly as he could not make much of an impression during his outing.

Max Verstappen ardently feels that he was not to blame for the incident. Moreover, during the post-sprint race interviews, the Dutchman even had a heated altercation with the Mercedes F1 driver. The fans of the sport do not agree with his assessment of the incident and have not hesitated to let their reactions known.

Looking at the fan’s reactions, it is quite clear that they believe that Max Verstappen’s assessment of the incident is completely wrong. In their opinion, Russell was doing just hard racing, something that one would expect from a racing driver. Moreover, a few of the fans have even gone on to joke about how aggressive Max was during his infamous tussles with Lewis Hamiton and how he deemed it as hard racing.

While Max Verstappen has received a lot of heat for the Sprint race, he has got a big job to do during tomorrow’s Azerbaijan GP. The 25-year-old did not get the kind of rewards he was hoping to get from the Sprint race, he has got every opportunity of scoring maximum points during the upcoming main race.

Verstappen is going to start the Azerbaijan GP from P2 on the grid and would look to get the lead in the race before exiting Turn 1. However, it will not be easy against an in-form Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver has looked incredibly strong so far at the Baku Street Circuit and would pose a serious threat to the Dutchman.

Charles Leclerc’s SF-23 has worked well in Azerbaijan and will be the man to beat during the race. Moreover, from Verstappen’s point of view, he would need to be extra cautious going into Turn 1 as he would not want to repeat what happened during the sprint race. It is all to play for tomorrow, and the Azerbaijan GP will be a fascinating affair.
