Fernando Alonso has secured P5 for tomorrow’s Bahrain GP. The Spaniard is super excited and has admitted that he will try his absolute best to land his car on the podium. The Bahrain GP qualifying session was an insanely intense affair, however, despite the pressure, the oldest man on the grid has proved once again proved, that he has still got it.
While sharing his thoughts at the end of the session, Alonso told Dazn, “The car is just the base, the beginning of this project. When I talk to the designers they tell me that very important things are coming, developments in the next races and in the next Grand Prix, and it fills you with enthusiasm to see how hungry the whole team is.”
“For tomorrow, we will see, The car’s strong point so far has been the long runs, so starting in the ‘Top 5’ hopefully we can be in the fight for good points and, if something happens ahead, very close to the podium. Seeing is believing.” Looking at the reaction of the former 2-time F1 World Champion, it is safe to assume that the Spaniard is raring to go and put on a great show for the fans tomorrow. Moreover, why won’t he be, as his engineers have given him a lot of confidence regarding extracting more performance from the AMR23. This is on the right trajectory at Aston Martin.

Fernando Alonso expects tight competition this year
While Fernando Alonso is eagerly waiting to hit the ground running tomorrow, he has admitted that the competition would be extremely tight. He sees Red Bull, Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Mercedes as the front runners this year.
The above-mentioned teams were very close on the qualifying timing sheets, and Alonso, while stressing on the same, added, “Mercedes are the ones who cheat the most all winter. We’re going to be very even, that’s the beauty.”
“Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes and Aston Martin all be in half a second, depending on the circuit, some teams will go faster than others, promises a very amusing championship.” The 41-year-old is really looking forward to the 2023 season. Moreover, considering what he has said, it seems the battle at the top is going to be a four-way fight.
This is what the fans want, and if this certainly proves to be the case this year, then there is every chance that the 2023 season will go down to the wire. How do you see the upcoming season panning out? Would Fernando Alonso be seen in the running for the Driver’s Championship this year?
