“Get him back in Ferrari” – F1 fans crack up over Maurizio Arrivabene’s hilarious reaction upon hearing ‘Binotto out’

Maurizio Arrivabene laughs over hearing a fan say "Binotto out"

Maurizio Arrivabene is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Italian football club Juventus and was a former team principal of Scuderia Ferrari. Under his leadership, Ferrari fought for the title in 2017 and 2018 with Sebastian Vettel. However, after a failure to turn these battles into victory due to various reasons, Arrivabene was replaced by Mattia Binotto in 2019.

Arrivabene was appointed team principal at Ferrari in December 2014, replacing Marco Mattiacci. His appointment coincided with the arrival of Sebastian Vettel, the four-time world champion. Thus, Arrivabene was given the task to lead the ‘prancing horse’ in its new era in F1 with a new lead driver, with the objective of bringing back glory to Maranello. However, due to the team’s strategic failures, mechanical issues or Vettel’s mistakes, the German driver failed to beat Lewis Hamilton and ultimately the blame was put on the team boss who departed the team.

His replacement, Mattia Binotto has done his fair share in trying to bring back success for the Italian team. After a dismal 2020 season, Ferrari finally had a great car in 2022 though the team failed to turn it into a championship victory after losing by a large margin to Max Verstappen and Red Bull. As such there lies a group of the Tifosi who aspire to have Maurizio back as the team principal as they believe it can only be him who can end Ferrari’s 14-year drought of winning an F1 championship.

Fans were heartbroken when the pair of Maurizio Arrivabene and Sebastian Vettel failed to bring success

Recently Arrivabene was spotted in Italy, surrounded by fans, in a video posted on Twitter, one person called, ‘Binotto out’ and this was heard by the Italian who gave a smile in return before laughing it off as a joke. F1 Twitter went bonkers as some fans believed it was the return of the 65-year-old to Maranello. One fan said, “get him back in @ScuderiaFerrari” while another said “Alexa play ‘Gary come home.'”

It is not hidden that the fans wish to have him back as the leader of the prancing horse. One user pointed out the Juventus CEO’s caution and said “He was trying to be funny then realized he probably shouldn’t have done that,” as the Italian realized his actions may cause controversy and immediately tried to repel it and laugh it off.

It seems that despite being away from Formula 1 entirely for over 3 years now, Maurizio has not lost any love from the fans. Even though it is highly unlikely that the Italian will be called back by Ferrari, it doesn’t hurt for us to imagine what he could have done in F1 if he was still on the grid.
