“F1 is unmatched on days like these,” Twitter explodes as Carlos Sainz claims maiden F1 victory in an edge of the seat thriller in Silverstone

We have only witnessed a total of ten Grands Prix in the 2022 Formula 1 Championship, but fans are already forming the opinion that today’s British GP will go down as the most entertaining race of this year. With a massive collision right at the start, some intriguing battles for Championship points during the middle of the race, and a desperate attempt from Lewis Hamilton to get a podium finish at the very end–the historic Silverstone Circuit saw a slew of actions at the front, middle and the back of the grid as the racers took part in a brilliant show of their skills.

And the most satisfying result that came out of all of it, of course, is a first-ever Grand Prix victory for Ferrari racer Carlos Sainz who took pole yesterday and converted it to a mind-blowing race win today. As the lights went off to mark the start of the Silverstone GP for the first time, he was quickly and tactfully overtaken by Max Verstappen, but then they had to restart the race as the collision between George Russell and Guanyu Zhou brought in a red flag. And after getting a second chance at leading the race, Carlos Sainz waved off all sorts of attacks from Verstappen and soared to extend his gap with the rest of the grid.

What followed was a flurry of motion, and Carlos Sainz had a fierce battle with his own teammate as Ferrari allowed their two drivers to decide who would take the lead at Silverstone. And finally, at the end of the 52 laps, Sainz gave a victorious cheer in the team radio as he converted his 150th race start in F1 into his first-ever Grand Prix victory.
