Daniel Ricciardo has very recently joined AlphaTauri as a racing driver and has performed decently in the few outings he’s had so far. However, despite this fact, the former racing driver turned F1 pundit Tom Coronel has admitted that the Australian will not fare any better than Nyck De Vries fared against Yuki Tsunoda.

De Vries was sacked by the Franz Tost-led team just after 10 F1 outings as he could not meet the expectations of AlphaTauri’s hierarchy. He was nowhere near the performances that Yuki Tsunoda was putting in the AT04 and, thus, was sacked brutally from the team after the British GP.

Tom Coronel feels while Ricciardo has done decently so far for the Faenza-based team, Tsunoda would most definitely walk all over him in the team battle, and while shedding light on the same, he told Motorsport, “But Ricciardo is not going to make the difference there either. They will now find out. Yuki is also better than we think.”

But yes, if you really have balls, then you put Yuki next to Max. He has three years of experience at the end of this season and is good enough with the sister team? But yes, then Max snaps it of course and that’s done too.” Coronel has made an extremely bold claim by indicating that the Japanese star should be put alongside the prolific Max Verstappen at Red Bull.

While Daniel Ricciardo currently has got several doubters at the pinnacle of motor racing, his ultimate goal is to get a top seat in F1, where he would be able to challenge for race wins regularly. As things stand, his prime target is to get the 2025 Red Bull seat alongside Verstappen.

The 34-year-old has got a deal in place with AlphaTauri until the end of the ongoing campaign, and after that, the future is a bit unclear for the former eight-time Grand Prix. However, as per the rumor mill, it is believed that Ricciardo could stay at AlphaTauri for another year and then see how things are for him.

Daniel Ricciardo is one of the most loved racing drivers on the current Formula 1 grid, and his fans desperately want to see him fighting at the front end of the grid. However, considering that he is in his mid-30s, it is not a certainty that Red Bull would be willing to gamble on him in case they decide to part ways with Sergio Perez after 2024.
