F1 pundit claims Daniel Ricciardo will miss out on a 2024 racing seat as AlphaTauri might be eyeing someone else
Ted Kravitz expresses his doubts regarding the future of Daniel Ricciardo.

Daniel Ricciardo
In order to secure a spot back on the F1 grid, Daniel Ricciardo is once again serving as Red Bull‘s reserve driver, and is said to be open to joining the sister team. Lawson, who has caught the attention of many in the Super Formula series, and another Red Bull junior driver, Ayumu Iwasa, have also been mentioned. Due to Nyck de Vries‘ difficulties adjusting to life as an F1 driver on a full-time basis with AlphaTauri, there has been a lot of talk about possible candidates to take over his racing seat.
Ricciardo has been the subject of increased speculation since Red Bull scheduled him for a test at Silverstone the following week to assist with their Pirelli tyre programme. But according to F1 pundit Ted Kravitz, Lawson appears to be the next heir apparent to join Red Bull and, more precisely, AlphaTauri, which will change its name and brand before the F1 2024 season. However, Kravitz thinks there are some questions about whether the Australian is ready to be thrust back into the F1 fold as a full-fledged driver.
After leaving McLaren, the Australian driver has also been a hot subject among other teams, including a very big team like Mercedes. Haas has been linked to the 33-year-old, but it’s improbable that they’d agree to his salary demands. Being parked at the back-markers might also not be appealing to him, especially if Mercedes keeps turning her head. One strategy being considered by Mercedes is to sign him as a reserve driver for the upcoming season and then have him ready to step in and replace Hamilton in the driver’s seat if necessary. He would then team up with Englishman George Russell the following season despite the ongoing contract saga with Hamilton.

What’s next for Daniel Ricciardo?

Once word got out that Ricciardo wouldn’t be racing for a team in the 2023 championship, F1 fans all across the world put out a collective moan. Popular both on and off the track, the 33-year-old is now a test and reserve driver for Red Bull after having his contract with McLaren terminated early the previous year. Fans might not have to wait too long to see the Honey Badger back in the driver’s seat, however, as Horner acknowledged that Ricciardo could be heading to AlphaTauri.
However, Ted Kravitz has suggested despite rumors about Nyck de Vries’ future in F1, Ricciardo might not have a seat in the AlphaTauri. “Liam Lawson is next on the ladder of Red Bull young drivers. He’s here this weekend, read into that what you will,” Kravitz said on Ted’s Notebook in Austria.“It doesn’t seem like Daniel Ricciardo is going to get into an AlphaTauri or anything else. He’s just doing some testing.”
Ted thinks it is going to take a while for Daniel Ricciardo to be back to regular racing. He certainly is not going to be bounced into a seat this year although Ted insisted could be wrong on that and will be surprised if Ricciardo is provided a seat . For Ted it looks like Liam Lawson is next for any seat that either AlphaTauri or Red Bull Racing might have in the future. Ted said it looks like Perez will continue next year anyway in Red Bull and his seat might not be vacant for at least a year or two.
