Lewis Hamilton has struggled in the new ground-effect era of Formula 1. The 7-time world champion has failed to win a single race since 2021, with Mercedes trailing behind championship leaders Red Bull. The British driver urged the sport to bring in rule changes that could stop Max Verstappen‘s easy trip to the title victory this season. Now, F1 pundit Peter Windsor has criticized Hamilton for these comments.
Windsor believed that Lewis Hamilton was not serious regarding such a demand. The F1 journalist was convinced that Hamilton was simply taking a dig at Red Bull.
I think he’s got to be joking... It’s got to be Lewis winding up Red Bull... He can’t be serious...If he’s serious, that is the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.Peter Windsor said in a live stream on his YouTube Channel
The F1 pundit mentioned Red Bull had managed to abide by the rules and out-develop its rivals within the new regulations that aimed to stop a tea from running away with the championship. As such, Hamilton’s ask would be unfair to the Milton Keynes-based team.
Peter Windsor cannot comprehend Lewis Hamilton’s statement
The 71-year-old simply didn’t understand why Hamilton gave this suggestion to F1. The 38-year-old was adamant that only rule changes could help prevent Red Bull’s dominance in the future.
I’ve never heard of anything so stupid in my life.
Peter Windsor said.

Interestingly, Lewis Hamilton had enjoyed a lengthy period of dominance in F1 himself. The British driver won 6 world titles between 2014 and 2020. Save for the 2016 championship that was won by his arch-rival Nico Rosberg. Certainly, many in the paddock have been amused by the words of the 7-time world champion as he witnesses Verstappen’s staggering results.
Thus, Peter Windsor was not happy with the demand made by Lewis Hamilton. The 71-year-old reaffirmed that Red Bull had done everything right to deserve its dominant position on the grid. As such, the F1 pundit reckons that Hamilton must have tried to wind up the Milton Keynes-based team instead of making an actual suggestion.
