Lance Stroll has spent seven seasons in Formula 1. The Canadian driver joined the grid in 2017 with Williams. Stroll moved to Silverstone for Aston Martin (formerly called Racing Point). However, the 25-year-old has struggled significantly in Qualifying.
Stroll has had a rather harsh time when it comes to head-to-head Qualifying against his teammates. A new statistic reveals that the Canadian driver has been out-qualified 103-37 in his F1 career. Certainly, this statistic has highlighted a major weakness of the 25-year-old.
However, it must be noted that Lance Stroll has faced world champions as his teammates in F1. The Canadian driver partnered with Sebastian Vettel and now Fernando Alonso at Aston Martin. Moreover, the 25-year-old was teammates with 2007 runner-up Felipe Massa during his debut season in F1.
Although Lance Stroll has shown glimpses of brilliance. The 25-year-old took a surprise pole position at the 2020 Turkish GP. Moreover, the Canadian had shocked the paddock by qualifying on the front row in Canada in his rookie season.
Lance Stroll needs a stronger season in 2024
Lance Stroll struggled against Fernando Alonso this year. The Canadian driver failed to get a single podium compared to multiple top 3 finishes for his teammate. This has raised questions over Stroll’s seat at the team owned by his father Lawrence Stroll.
Many even speculated that the 25-year-old could leave the sport in the future. However, the Canadian driver has dismissed such claims. Aston Martin has continued to put faith in Stroll as well. Although, the Silverstone-based team needs him to perform as the team receives massive investment to fuel its ambitions.
Certainly, Lance Stroll would be looking to turn things around in 2024. The 26-year-old had a massive points gap to Alonso this season. As such, fans would be looking forward to seeing how Stroll performs next season. However, things are likely to be difficult for the Canadian as he goes head-to-head against his world-champion teammate.
