Alpine racer Esteban Ocon recently celebrated his 26th birthday with his family in his Normandy residence and fans were surprised to find Haas recruit Mick Schumacher as one of his guests! The Frenchman has previously talked about how Schumacher junior is one of his closest friends on the grid, and the bromance between the two was quite evident from the photo which was posted on Ocon’s Instagram on the following day.

At a time when the drivers’ market is up in flames with controversies flying here and there, Esteban Ocon has got his future secured with his multiyear contract with Alpine. But the same cannot be said about Schumacher, as there have been rumors that Haas might try to rope in Daniel Ricciardo after the Australian’s deal with McLaren was terminated prematurely. And that would mean Schumacher might not have a seat in F1 going into the next season.

Dismissing all the rumors and controversies, it was uplifting to find Schumacher and Ocon bond at the Frenchman’s birthday where the guests included Esteban’s girlfriend Elena Berri, his parents and other family members. Now, there have been some talks about Mick moving to Alpine to take up Fernando Alonso’s abandoned seat beside Esteban Ocon. From the moment these photos from Ocon’s party surfaced on Instagram, the number one question in the minds of all the fans is if it is now confirmed that the young German is indeed going to the French team.

The drivers’ market is always a hot topic of discussion, especially when the current F1 season is nearing its end. And as word is doing the rounds about Mick Schumacher moving to Alpine, Esteban Ocon was once asked about his comments on the possibility of that. During the press conference for the Dutch Grand Prix, Ocon had said, “Mick, I think you know, is a good friend of mine, first of all, so if I can help on that, that’s no problem but I think he has shown talents in the junior categories as well. He’s been very fast, you know. I don’t have the decision to take, but the team knows that this will be my preference.”

Now, it only remains to be seen which of these speculations turn out to be actually true and which one of these remains as mere rumors.
