Guenther Steiner has been leading Haas ever since it debuted in Formula 1 in 2016 as the first American team to enter the pinnacle of motorsports in 30 years. The Italian former race engineer was previously attached with Red Bull Racing as he and Christian Horner had entered the Austrian outfit at the time. But Steiner left for some prospects in the United States as he settled there and became a permanent American resident. In 2014, it was announced that Guenther Steiner would be joining Haas for their impending entry into F1.
When Steiner led Haas to score 9 points in their debut race in Formula 1, his success impressed the critics. But the results dipped very soon and Haas came to be seen as one of the lower-field teams. Skipping to more recent times, Haas sacked German legend Michael Schumacher’s son Mick Schumacher after only 2 years with him since Guenther Steiner felt that the young Formula 2 Champion was not bringing in the results he expected. Then, they took up Nico Hulkenberg to pair with Kevin Magnussen at the start of the 2023 season.
But even Hulkenberg and Magnussen could not save Haas from ending up in the last spot on the F1 grid with only 12 points to their name. Then, the rumors about a possible disagreement between Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner took wings as it was said that the Haas team owner feels infrastructure is not the issue while Steiner feels Haas needs more funding to improve the results. And in the end, it was announced on January 10, 2024, that Guenther Steiner will be leaving Haas and Ayao Komatsu will take over for him.
Fans believe Guenther Steiner’s antics are what made Netflix’s ‘Drive to Survive’ so special
As Guenther Steiner’s exit from Haas has come as a shock to many, almost all the fans are concerned with how the Netflix hit docuseries ‘Drive to Survive’ will go on without him. While Steiner has been attached with motorsports for 20 long years, it is his appearance on the show about the paddock lives of the F1 personnel that made him an overnight star. But now, Netflix will have to find other people to focus on as Guenther will not be seen regularly around the paddocks anymore.

Here is what the fans have to say about Guenther Steiner’s Haas exit:
In other news, Guenther Steiner is not the only Team Principal who will not be continuing his role in 2024. AlphaTauri’s Franz Tost left his job as the leader of the Faenza team at 67 years of age, as it has been announced that former Ferrari frontman Laurent Mekies will take over the role of the AlphaTauri’s Team Principal from Tost. It remains to be seen how the new Team Principals fare in the upcoming F1 season and if they excel where their predecessors failed.
