The Las Vegas GP got off to a tumultuous start, with lap one marred by chaos as drivers grappled with slippery conditions, resulting in several cars spinning and colliding into turn one. The incident’s aftermath saw nearly four drivers tumbling down the grid from their initial positions. In contrast, the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri skillfully navigated the turmoil to secure promising positions. Unfortunately, Norris’s fortunes took a sharp downturn as he crashed and prematurely exited the race after only three laps.
McLaren’s qualifying session on Friday proved to be a nightmare, with both drivers failing to advance past Q1. Despite starting from the 16th position on the grid, Lando Norris adeptly carved his way through the competition, reaching a commendable 12th place. However, the challenging low-grip conditions ultimately proved insurmountable, causing Norris to lose control and collide nose-first into the barriers at turn 12. Thankfully, Norris emerged unscathed, but the incident prompted a yellow flag, leading to the deployment of the safety car.
The potential for a more hazardous situation loomed as Norris nearly collected his teammate ahead of him, highlighting the severity of the incident. Debris from Norris’s crash also struck Lewis Hamilton‘s front wing. The deployment of the safety car initiated a series of pitstops, providing an opportunity for those involved in the turn-one mishap to opt for a strategy favoring long runs on hard tires.

Lando Norris had been in exceptional form, consistently securing podium finishes since McLaren’s upgrades. However, the unique layout of the Las Vegas track proved to be a challenge for the MCL60, resulting in a sudden and noticeable decline in performance. As the video capturing the crash circulated on various platforms, it elicited a significant and impassioned response from fans.
Fans were relieved to see Lando Norris safe
Devastated fans witnessed their beloved driver crash out of the race, yet breathed a sigh of relief seeing him walk away unharmed. Currently, in the medical center, reports indicate his well-being, providing further solace to the concerned supporters. Nevertheless, a wave of indignation swept through the fan base, directed at the track and its challenging characteristics, fueling a widespread outcry over the racing conditions.
A prevailing sentiment within the fandom asserts that the asphalt quality in Las Vegas falls short of Formula 1 standards, leading to a widespread call to remove the race from the calendar. Fans anticipate a persistently chaotic race, fueled by the belief that the slippery nature of the asphalt will likely result in numerous future crashes.
This asphalt is not F1 worthy. What is this show?

Is it too late to remove the track from the next season? It’s not fun, interruptive, and dangerous. This race weekend has been a cheap circus. Just like Vegas.
