Lance Stroll, the Aston Martin Formula 1 driver, has, after the 2023 Austrian GP, become Canada’s highest points-scoring driver in the all-time history of the sport. As things stand, he has amassed 238 points at the pinnacle of motor racing so far and has overtaken the former F1 driver, Jacques Villeneuve, who scored 235 during his racing days and the 1997 championship.

Lance Stroll made his F1 debut in 2017 at the Australian Grand Prix and has, since then, been regularly competing in the sport. While he has a mixed reputation as an F1 driver, he has done a good job and is set to continue in the sport for several years. However, despite achieving a big landmark, the fans have made sarcastic remarks.

Looking at the fans’ reactions, it is quite evident that they are not too impressed with Lance Stroll’s recent achievement. Moreover, they have brutally destroyed Stroll with their brutal comments. Fans feel he has become the highest-point scoring Canadian just because of the change in the distribution of points system in the modern era.

What a meaningless “statistic” given the changes in points systems over the years. Are we really supposed to believe he achieved something greater than Villenueve?

Lance Stroll has got a challenging task at Aston Martin in 2023

While Lance Stroll has become the highest points-scoring Canadian in F1’s history, there is no hiding from the fact that he has been easily outclassed by Fernando Alonso this year. After ten rounds in the ongoing campaign, Stroll has only managed 44 points, whereas his former 2-time F1 World Champion teammate has amassed 131 in the same number of outings.

The stat mentioned above gives a clear indication of how much Lance Stroll has still got to learn at the pinnacle of motor racing. There are still 14 races left in the season, and for Stroll, it will all be about learning as much as possible from Alonso and honing his racing skills to become a complete F1 driver.

Aston Martin, this year, is engulfed in a pretty serious battle with Mercedes and Ferrari for the second position in the Constructors Championship.
