The Friday practice sessions in Montreal included several unusual happenings. The Canadian GP free practice had everything after a groundhog invasion, flying dandelions, and a failed CCTV system. The Aston Martin garage was equally peculiar, if not more, during Free Practice 2.
During an extended FP2 session due to the first practice being called off, Aston Martin decided to use flowviz on Lance Stroll’s AMR23, like every other team. However, with Stroll still seated in the cockpit, the mechanics resorted to draping a trash bag to cover the driver. This was a highly uncommon method of spraying on Flowviz, and the commentators and fans found it incredibly humors.
Flowiz is an important tool in motorsports. It is generally sprayed on the car, and the flow patterns on the vehicle’s body can obtain important aerodynamic information. Lance Stroll, however, will be hoping that the team will get relevant information after the FP2 run. A wet practice run saw Lance Stroll finish P9 in his home country while his teammate Fernando Alonso was up in 4th place.

After the Silverstone team went against the norm went it came to Flowviz application, Twitter was quick to react to it. During the Canadian Grand Prix, groundhog memes are always circulating the internet. This time, however, instead of Canada’s fury rodent, Lance Stroll’s bin bag incident was the hot topic on Twitter.
One Twitter user hilariously called the incident the “Pinnacle of motorsport.” Referring to however elite the sport, maybe it still resorts to make-shift methods. A different user echoed the same idea and tweeted “Peak F1.” “Free him” another user hilariously tweeted.
Other users felt apologetic due to the Canadian being wrapped up in a bag. Twitter users expressed sympathy for Lance, with one saying “Poor Lance” and another demanding his freedom with “Free my man.”
After an unsuccessful FP1 session due to CCTV issues, many teams couldn’t have a productive running. Lance Stroll and teammate Fernando Alonso put their Aston Martins in P2 and P3. However, the same couldn’t be emulated by them later in the day after the Mercedes’ topped FP3.
