The two Red Bull drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, hold the top two spots in the driver’s championship currently. The team has had an amazing stint this season, and Verstappen remained untouched in terms of points the entire season. Perez, however, faced a difficult later half of the season.
Perez can clinch the second spot in the driver’s championship based on his performance. The two drivers, Perez and Lewis Hamilton, are in a fierce battle for the second spot in the championship. The point disparity between both the racers is a mere 20-point gap, which has shortened over the past few weeks.

Ahead of the Brazilian GP, Sergio Perez has talked about the possible help from Max Verstappen to him. The Mexican claimed that if the situation arose, Verstappen would surely help Perez in his battle for the runner-up spot in the Drivers’ championship.
Around the same time during Brazil GP last year, Verstappen declined to follow team orders and let Checo through. This disobedience from Verstappen made Perez lose out on three crucial points, which later resulted in him losing the second spot. Hence, this claim from Perez is very bold as things may be a repeat of the last season.
Fans recalled last year’s situation with Max Verstappen
In a recent tweet on X, Multiple fans did not forget what Verstappen did last year. One fan called this situation as ‘pathetic’ as Checo asked for help from Max. They recalled the same incident and claimed that Perez should learn something from the past. One fan quizzed Perez and stated that the team was in the same situation last year and asked ‘how did it pan out’.

Other fans criticized Perez’s recent performance slump and claimed that the help would be useless if Perez were nine spots below Verstappen. Some fans also questioned why Verstappen would even help Checo if he’s trying to create world records. One fan claimed that Checo was dreaming and called Max selfish.

Well starting from P9 doesn’t help. And yesterday Checo showed that he can actually overtake without making a mistake, so he’ll be fine:
