Felipe Massa, with his recent shenanigans, has turned the whole F1 world upside-down. The hype around his ongoing tussle that’s centered around the 2008 F1 title claim has been catching constant fire. Amidst all the chaos, it has come to light that Massa’s lawyers are preparing to ask Lewis Hamilton to give up his 2008 crown in the name of sporting integrity.
Felipe Massa is convinced that the 2008 World Championship is his, and he and his team of lawyers are fully determined to do everything that is necessary to attain their objective. He claims that the results of the 2008 Singapore GP should be revoked over the Crashgate.
One of Massa’s lawyers, Bernado Viana, recently addressed the media and, while referring to Lewis Hamilton, said, as reported by The Standard, “He is an important ambassador for the sport and has always defended sporting integrity. He is an honorary Brazilian citizen and very well-liked by Brazilians, so I hope he will support us.”
“We have absolutely nothing against Hamilton.” Looking at the lawyer’s comments, it is quite clear that Massa and Co. are somewhat banking on getting the 38-year-old’s support regarding their ongoing tussle. They genuinely believe that the Mercedes starlet would support their cause.

Lewis Hamilton won the 2008 F1 title by a margin of only a point over Felipe Massa
While it seems extremely absurd what Felippe Massa and Co. are planning to do, the Brazilian lost out on the 2008 F1 World Championship by only a margin of one point. The tide of the 2008 Championship turned at the Singapore GP when Massa was leading, and his fellow Brazilian, Nelson Piquet Jr., crashed his Renault into the wall on lap 14 of the race.
The crash led to the activation of a safety car, which benefited his teammate Fernando Alonso, who then went on to secure the victory while Massa failed to score after a bungled pit stop. Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, finished third to earn six championship points, and this is where Felipe Massa feels F1 went away from sporting integrity.
The incident is famously known as ‘Crashgate’, and considering the hype it has picked up again, the upcoming days and months are going to be a fascinating watch from the point of view of the spectators. F1 is known for its on-track action, but while 2023 has become a one-team show, the fans have the Massa tussle to keep them entertained.
