Alpine’s 2024 season has started massively on the back foot, with drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon being unable to score any points in the opening two races of the season. The Enstone-based team looks to be struggling with optimizing the performance of the car and delivering on track.

Alpine is now placed last in the constructors’ championships after poor performances at Bahrain and Jeddah. A DNF for Pierre Gasly at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix due to mechanical issues on the opening lap of the race was their lowest point so far, this season. With the shocking start to the season that the French team has faced, their ex-driver Fernando Alonso has given his take on Alpines poor run and how it’s difficult for him to see it.

Most of the team when I was in Alpine were the same people as we had in Renault, and is the team that I will always love, and will have on my heart. So, it’s difficult to see when they are at the back. But hopefully they can find more performance.
Fernando Alonso said, (H&T: Motorsportweek).

The Two-time World Champion also pointed out that he thinks that there is a ” lack of professionalism” in the team. Alonso also notes that management changes that Alpine may have encountered such as the resignation of Technical Director Matt Harman and Head of Aero Dirk de Beer may also be a factor for this surprising downfall.
