Fernando Alonso has been putting Aston Martin’s AMR 23 through the wringer during the ongoing campaign. Moreover, ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, he has made it known that switching to the Lawrence Stroll-owned team by parting ways with Alpine is the best decision he ever made at the pinnacle of motor racing.

Fernando Alonso has been doing his spectacular thing in the sport for several years and is easily one of the most experienced drivers on the current F1 grid. There are not many in the history of F1 who have managed to prolong their career for as long as Alonso has been able to. At Aston Martin, he has found a new home for himself.

Alonso joined F1 way back in 2001 and has since raced for several well-renowned F1 teams. Currently, he is making his trade at the Silverstone-based team, and while talking about his decision to join them this year, he told Motorsport, “I don’t regret anything. Nobody has a crystal ball and knows how the teams will perform in the following year.”

My last decision, to go to Aston Martin, was the worst according to everyone. It was probably the best of my career,” That just shows how difficult it is to choose a team, and the lack of knowledge of everyone sitting at home.” Looking at the comments of the 41-year-old, it seems he genuinely believes that he did the right thing by joining Aston Martin this year.

While Fernando Alonso has deemed his decision to join Aston Martin as the best ever, it has been several years since he last won the F1 World Championship. Alonso wants to experience the feeling of being at the top once again and feels, Aston Martin is the best route to achieving his objective.

He is 41 years old and is currently in the twilight phase of his F1 career, considering this, 2024 could prove to be Alonso’s last opportunity to have a serious go at the F1 World Championship. Max Verstappen has performed in a league of its own this year and the 2023 title debate is pretty much settled.

Fernando Alonso is an absolute legend of the sport and taking into account everything that he has put in over the years, he truly deserves to win another F1 title. However, it is easier said than done when F1 has currently got a man in the name of Max Verstappen who has been dominating the sport for a couple of years.
