Fernando Alonso put up a supremely impressive display of performance in his first year with the Aston Martin team, scoring eight podiums and taking fourth in the championship in the 2023 season. Alonso spearheaded the charge to give the team their best-ever season results, impressing the team and motivating the crew.

A late-season drop-off saw the Silverstone-based team fail to completely retain the advantage over the rest of the field in 2023. However, Alonso has said that this will be rectified in 2024, as he would be much more familiar with the team, reducing the need for adjustments to be made for him in the team.

This being my second year with the team will help. I don’t need to do many of the things I had to do earlier this year: I don’t need to put names to all faces, I don’t need to make seat adjustments, learn the terminology, and make all the other adaptations.

Fernando Alonso completely wiped out his teammate Lance Stroll in his first year with Aston Martin, following the other multiple champion Sebastian Vettel who did the same in 2021 and 2022, achieving a podium finish as well.

Mike Krack claims Aston Martin can keep Fernando Alonso ‘forever’

Fernando Alonso struck joy into the hearts of the crew at Aston Martin, giving them eight podiums across the 2023 season, a feat no other non-Red Bull driver managed to achieve. Alonso helped Aston Martin achieve a fifth-place finish in the Constructors’ Standings, a personal best for the team.

After impressing the team throughout the first half of the season, the team principal Mike Krack expressed his and the team’s enthusiasm to keep the two-time World Champion in the team beyond 2024. Mike Krack has said that the way things are working right now, they could continue ‘forever’ with the dynamics of the team.

If we maintain the dynamics and the collaboration that we have now, we can go on forever.

Alonso has had a surprisingly smooth running with his teammate Lance Stroll, son of team owner Lawrence Stroll. Despite a major incident last year when Alonso was airborne after contact with the Canadian, the 42-year-old has been happy with his teammate in 2023.
