Fernando Alonso, the former 2-time F1 world champion, has been competing at the top level since 2001. While he still has the enthusiasm to keep going at the pinnacle of motor racing, he has admitted that the incessant F1 triple headers could force him into an early retirement.
Fernando Alonso did a mega job for the Aston Martin F1 team during the 2023 F1 season. Despite being 42 years old, he was able to keep up with the younger generation and was able to give them a serious run for their money. Alonso ended the campaign in fourth place in the Drivers Championship.
However, while he wants to give a few more years to sport, he feels that he could get forced into an early retirement. While shedding light on the same, he told Autosport;
Next year with the proper [24-round] calendar, we have to see how it feels. I saw that it's a triple header. I don't know why, I thought that Vegas was alone next year… It's three races together. These kinds of things will drain my battery, not driving.
Alonso says #F1's triple-headers are more likely to make him retire before he has any doubts about his driving.

Looking at the reaction of the prolific Spaniard, it is quite clear that he sees the F1 triple headers as a cause of concern for him. He has indicated that at his age, it sometimes gets quite difficult for him to deal with the strains that his body goes through during three consecutive race weekends.
Fernando Alonso could fight Max Verstappen for the F1 title in the upcoming years
While Fernando Alonso has touched on the problems that he faces during F1 triple headers, one of his main reasons for continuing in the sport is to have at least one last crack at the coveted F1 world championship. Alonso ideally, wants to bring the curtain down on his career as a 3-time winner.
Aston Martin showed glimpses during the 2023 season that they can fight at the front end. Considering this, Alonso is going to hope that the team can make a positive step in 2024 and hopefully, present him with a car with which he would be able to hunt down the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen.

Fernando Alonso, despite being the oldest guy on the grid, is fast as ever and wants to do great things in the years he has left in F1. However, Alonso’s wish to fight for the championship might not come true if the lights of Ferrari, Mercedes, and, McLaren are able to make a bigger step up in the near future.
