Double world champion Fernando Alonso secured his sixth podium out of eight races this season. This is his best result in the past seven years of his Formula 1 career. Though he is third in the championship standings, Alonso believes he can beat Red Bull driver Sergio Perez to second place. His confidence stems from Aston Martin’s package this season. 

If there is one thing Alonso is looking forward to this season, it is his 33rd win. He insisted they matched Red Bull’s pace most of the race in the Canadian Grand Prix. Alonso’s target is to win a race this season. The only one standing in his way is the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, and his mighty RB19. However, Alonso claims Aston Martin is going in the right direction, and they will have an opportunity to win a race.

Fernando Alonso believes that Aston Martin can develop the AMR23. He stated, “I think there is more to come. I want to win a race this year… the car is going in the right direction so more opportunities will come.” Sooner or later, Alonso might get his 33rd Formula 1 victory. After all, he lingers behind Max Verstappen’s RB19 through most races. There is hope for him to win the race on pure merit. However, he could also capitalize on Verstappen’s misfortunes.

It is safe to say Fernando Alonso is living his best life. He claimed he could not think of another time in his career when he was confident with a team and its project. Though Aston Martin are not fighting for the championship yet, they hope to develop machinery that helps them challenge the mighty Red Bull. It is only a matter of time before they crack the code. 

Team principal Mike Krack stated that it has been challenging for them as they have a car with a driver who wants to win. They want to find the missing piece and start battling Red Bull and Verstappen. Krack and Alonso claim the results have been motivational, and they want to fight hard to close the gap in the upcoming races. 

Right now, Fernando Alonso is where he wants to be. Aston Martin’s progress will help him secure a win by the end of the season. The Spaniard is not anxious about winning and is enjoying the moment. Every weekend the Aston Martin crew celebrates the double-world champion singing his praises. The team is in the best shape they have ever been.
