Max Verstappen once again came out on top at the Dutch GP. The two-time world champion won his home race for the third consecutive time. However, Verstappen had the threat of Fernando Alonso on the final restart of the race. Alonso has revealed the reason for not making an attempt to overtake the Red Bull driver in the ending stages of the race.
Fernando Alonso was right behind Verstappen at the final restart with only a few laps remaining. The Spanish driver was just sixth-tenths of a second behind the reigning world champion initially. However, Max Verstappen made enough of a gap shortly afterward and won his ninth race in a row this season.
Now, The Aston Martin has joked about not trying to overtake the two-time world champion. As Dutch fans might have blocked him from exiting the circuit after taking away the race victory from the local hero. He said, “I did think about trying a move [on Max Verstappen] in the restart, but then I thought I maybe cannot exit the circuit anymore.”

Max Verstappen wins nine races in a row
The reigning world champion has continued to dominate Formula 1 this season. Max Verstappen has now won 11 out of 13 races so far. The Dutchman finally matched the record of Sebastian Vettel in winning nine rounds in a row. The 25-year-old has matched the legacy of a former Red Bull champion who had annihilated the competition in the past.
Verstappen had lost the race lead to Sergio Perez during the first round of pitstops as rain poured on the circuit. At one point, the Dutch driver was 15 seconds behind his teammate. However, Max Verstappen made a stellar comeback and clocked four seconds quicker than the Mexican driver. The defending world champion kept his lead since then to the chequered flag.
Thus, Fernando Alonso admitted that fans would’ve been furious at the Aston Martin driver if he had overtaken local hero Max Verstappen at the Dutch GP. The Spanish driver failed to challenge the Dutch driver for the race’s lead at the final restart. Although, Alonso was aware that his Aston Martin simply didn’t have the pace to topple the Red Bull driver.
