Times have changed. Fernando Alonso is back on top. His first four races with Aston Martin were impressive and he hopes to carry the momentum forward. Alonso is busy preparing for the fifth round in Miami. This is the first of the three races held in the United States this season, and Alonso wants to deliver excellence.
The Spaniard was close to a podium finish in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He finished fourth behind the Red Bull duo and Ferrari’s starboy Charles Leclerc. The 41-year-old bagged 12 points and remains third in the championship standings. Formula 1 introduced a new sprint race format last weekend but will return to its usual design in Miami.
Fernando Alonso stated, “The circuit [Miami] is fast, with many tight curves and long straights. It will be interesting to see if the re-paved has had an impact on the track and we will have a lot of time to evaluate it on Friday. Our performance in Baku was encouraging and I hope to get similar results in Miami. We will try to overcome our closest rivals again and offer a good show to the fans.”

Fernando Alonso has three podium finishes from first four races
Aston Martin had an intense weekend in Azerbaijan. However, the team scored 22 points. They were only one step away from a podium finish. Alonso admitted the car worked well despite having a limited time for the set-up change. The Silverstone-based outfit had an issue with the DRS throughout the weekend but managed to get solid results.
Things have been going well for the Aston Martin driver. Fernando Alonso might even be tempted to extend his contract with his new team. His goal this season is to deliver good results. Due to Red Bull’s dominance, Alonso ruled out the championship battle for the 2023 season. But he believes Aston Martin can fight for the title in 2024.
Fernando Alonso is 33 points behind the championship leader Max Verstappen after Baku. At some point, the Spaniard would be able to capitalize on Red Bull’s misfortune and win his 33rd race. He has the talent to do so, and lady luck seems to be in his favor. Alonso is focused on Miami and hopes that Aston Martin will get good results, similar to the first four races.
