Moreover, Hamilton was the one who was at fault, and Alonso, being extremely mad over the incident let his frustration out on the team radio by saying, “Yeah what an idiot, closing the door from the outside. I mean, we had a mega start but this guy only knows how to drive and start in first.”

A lot has been made of the incident building up to the Dutch Grand Prix, and Alonso who himself admitted that he was not in his right mind during the heated rant, has put all rumors of there being any kind of animosity between the two to bed by posing with the Brit and his signed Mercedes cap.

Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso have been associated with F1 for a long time and are well aware of each other’s credentials on a racing circuit. Both have won multiple World Championships and have over the years, garnered huge praise for their exploits.

What happened in Belgium was unfortunate, but with Alonso immediately admitting that he was not right in saying what he said and ahead of the Dutch GP going into the Mercedes garage to make things right with Hamilton, shows the level of respect that the Spaniard has for his on-track rival.

The same goes for Hamilton as after what happened in Belgium, he could have easily dismissed the 41-year-old’s gesture, but instead of doing that, he simply accepted the Alpine driver’s apology and even posed for a picture.
