Aston Martin have been, time and time again, accused of fighting the Championship battle with only one warrior, the Spaniard – Fernando Alonso. Lance Stroll’s showings for this season, on the other hand, have been extremely disappointing. The Canadian has 136 fewer points than this Veteran teammate. Lance Stroll, son of the Aston Martin team owner – Lawrence Stroll, was also caught under heavy scrutiny for his behavior at the Qatar GP.
Stroll invited controversy and harsh comments after he appeared to shunt his trainer out of his way following a disappointing Qualifying session. The Driver’s performance, however, remains to be the point that draws the most criticism. Alonso, above all, has come to his teammate’s defense every single time this season and has managed to do it yet again.
The two-time World Champion addressed Stroll’s performance and insisted that he is working closely with the youngster to improve it. Alonso, who has reigned supreme with the AMR-23, talked about this issue.
We are all helping him. I’m trying to do my best as well, We are working very closely together to find the right path for the team and try to score points with both cars. I think he’s been extremely unlucky with some situations.Fernando Alonso said, as reported by Motorsportweek
Fernando Alonso still wishes for a World Championship with Ferrari
In a recent podcast, Formula 1 legend Fernando Alonso opened up about his deep-seated desire to clinch a World Championship with Ferrari, reflecting on his time with the iconic Italian team. He recounted the near-miss experiences of 2010 and 2012, seasons in which he came agonizingly close to securing the championship, only to be bested at the eleventh hour by the formidable Sebastian Vettel. The Spaniard talked about it recently.
"In 2010, 2012 we were within a few laps of winning a World Championship. And that probably could've changed the outcome of many things and the history behind a few things."
A two-time World Champion, Alonso’s illustrious career spans over two decades, featuring victorious stints with Renault, McLaren, and Ferrari. His time at Ferrari, where he secured 11 Grand Prix wins, symbolizes a dream for most Formula 1 drivers. Since Ferrari’s last title win in 2007, the dream of reclaiming championship glory has eluded every driver who graced the team.
