Fernando Alonso has got off to a great start in the 2023 F1 season. The Spanish driver has bagged podium finishes at all three races so far as the 41-year-old gets to drive the rather competitive Aston Martin AMR23. This has finally allowed Alonso to fight at the front of the field after spending years in below-par machinery. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali believes Fernando’s return to the podium will help the sport substantially.

Domenicali recently spoke in an interview about Fernando Alonso’s recent performances. The 41-year-old has finished P3 in the three rounds so far this season. This has rejuvenated fans who had wished to see Fernando finally get the chance to fight for a race victory in F1. Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso

The Spanish driver has become a mainstay at the front of the grid this season. Fernando Alonso is the only driver, alongside reigning champion Max Verstappen to be on the podium in all the races. Stefano praised the recent form shown by the 41-year-old and called it “pure magic.”This, of course, refers to the change in the delightful demonstrations by Alonso on track in 2023.

Yet, Fernando Alonso remains a step too far from a race win. The 41-year-old has waited almost a decade since his last victory in F1. However, Alonso is optimistic about capitalizing on a situation where Red Bull ends up struggling. The Austrian giant has managed to gain a big lead over its rivals. Although, this has opened a door for Fernando to clinch a victory if Milton Keynes has a bad day at the office.

Thus, Stefano Domenicali recognizes the impact Fernando Alonso has on the sport. The F1 CEO is glad to see how the sport has grown in the last couple of seasons. Alonso’s recent performances have further attracted audiences. Although, it remains to be seen how Fernando’s performances continue over the course of this 23-race long season and if the Spaniard can finally win a Grand Prix again.
