Ferrari all-set to debut a heavily redesigned version of the SF-23 at Imola – Report
Ferrari is working on bringing a new version of its current F1 car at the Imola Grand Prix.
SF-23
The Maranello-based Ferrari F1 team has gotten off to a horrendous start during the 2023 F1 season. The SF-23 has looked mediocre in comparison to Red Bull and because of all this, it has recently been reported that they are currently working on a new design for the SF-23. The sole motivation behind conjuring up a new design is to fight at the front this year.
Moreover, it has also come to light that the new SF-23 would make its debut at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Italy. It is the sixth race of the current campaign which also happens to be the first race of 2023 to take place in Europe. The Ferrari team has launched a chrono-program the main objective of which is to get the team fighting Red Bull from the Imola GP onwards.
While the new-looking Ferrari would make its first appearance in Italy, initially the plan was a bit different. The team was hoping to get the new parts on the car for the Azerbaijan GP but because for several reasons, has decided to reveal the new livery during the Imola GP. The main reason for the delay is suspected to be a longer construction time period.
The current SF-23 has proved to be lacking race pace in comparison to Red Bull and Aston Martin, and Ferrari’s plan is to make the car work at the right minimum height that is in line with the measurements of the wind tunnel. Moreover, the focus for the new SF-23 is also going to be on improving the overall aerodynamic efficiency of the car to reduce drag, but one factor that they are not really giving much attention to is proposing.

Would Ferrari be able to fight for the 2023 F1 Championship?
The first two rounds of the 2023 F1 season have been extremely disappointing for the Ferrari F1 team. Coming into the current campaign, the hope for Ferrari was to have a serious shot at the F1 World Championship this year. But, to everybody’s surprise, the SF-23 turned out to be slower than everybody had expected. Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GP were prime examples of it.
However, the Maranello-based team is well aware that everything is not lost yet, as there is still a total of 21 races left in the season. Ferrari is a giant in the motorsports world and has got everything at its disposal to get the SF-23 fighting at the front end of the grid against the lights of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. The new SF-23 even before its debut has already got a lot riding on it.
Considering the relentless work that has been going on at Maranello regarding a new design for the SF-23, how much of a difference would that be able to make as far as the pace of the car is concerned? Everybody is aware that their current car is very slow in comparison to Red Bull and it would be fascinating to see how much of an upgrade the new SF-23 would prove to be.
