The Ferrari F1 team has brought on board Lewis Hamilton from the 2025 season onwards. They have done this at the expense of Carlos Sainz. While a lot has been said about the decision, Fred Vasseur has claimed that it was not an unfair one.
Carlos Sainz has been making his trade with Ferrari since the start of the 2021 season. He has so far done well for the team but the chance to sign F1 legend, Lewis Hamilton, was too big an opportunity for the Italian outfit to let go.

While shedding light on the decision recently, Vasseur said, as reported by Soymotor:
Unfair is not the right word because, for the team, the opportunity to have Lewis is something to consider. He is the biggest personality on the grid and the second most expensive driver, so it is a great opportunity for us. It has nothing to do with Carlos.
Vasseur, with his comments, has made it quite clear that for Ferrari, signing Hamilton is a huge thing. Moreover, he has also indicated that Sainz was not ousted because of his performances or anything, it was just because of Hamilton.
Carlos Sainz will look to fight for the world championship in 2024
While Fred Vasseur has made his reasons known for showing the exit door to Carlos Sainz, the latter will pretty much have a free go during the upcoming 2024 F1 season. If Ferrar’s SF-24 proves competitive, Sainz will try his best to secure his maiden world championship.

He has all the skills in his arsenal to do so, and one should not forget that he was the only non-Red Bull driver to win a Grand Prix during the 2023 season. He was able to achieve the feat at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Ferrari very recently launched its 2024 car and with testing slated to take place from 21st February onwards, several eyes will be on the number 55 machinery. Last year, Carlos Sainz finished his campaign in seventh place with exactly 200 points whereas his teammate, Charles Leclerc was able to put on board 206 to end up in fifth place.
