The Ferrari Formula 1 team had another disappointing campaign during the recently concluded 2023 F1 season. They were unable to pose a strong challenge but despite facing disappointments year after year since 2007, its sporting director, Diego Loverno, has claimed that winning is in the team’s DNA.

During the recently concluded campaign, Ferrari was the only team besides Red Bull to win a Grand Prix. However, the SF-23 just was not able to perform consistently and in the end, the team had no option but to settle for a disappointing third-place finish in the Constructors Championship.

Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc had a massive struggle behind the wheel of Ferrari’s 2023 car but despite the torrid times, Diego Loverno has tried to ooze a bit of optimism. While talking with Soymotor recently, he added;

Obviously, the need to win is in our DNA. We are here to try to win the championship. Obviously, we didn't achieve it, so we can't be positive in general. Sometimes we show good performance. I think that the execution and management of the weekend have also been positive in many races. We scored some good points and won in Singapore. It's a mixed feeling.

Ferrari has two prolific drivers in its arsenal

While the Ferrari F1 team has not been able to meet the expectations of the famous Tifosi since the 2007 F1 season, one thing that can give them some solace is the fact that they have a very strong driver line-up. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc are easily one of the strongest driver pairings on the current F1 grid.

Moreover, Leclerc is even seen by several pundits as the driver who is at the same level as the former 3-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, and the current reigning world champion, Max Verstappen. In the Monegasque, Ferrari has got an absolute gem of a driver in its arsenal.

Keeping in view everything that has been discussed above, the upcoming years are going to be extremely crucial from Ferrari’s point of view. They have the drivers to land them another world championship but the onus is really on them to provide Sainz and Leclerc with a championship-worthy car in the upcoming years.
