Ferrari mocked by former driver Marc Surer: “They study to lose”
Very few Formula 1 racers ever get the opportunity of having a career that is as extensive and enriching as Sebastian Vettel‘s. The German has won the F1 World Championship for a staggering four time consecutively, from 2010 to 2013, when he was a Red Bull driver. It is said that Seb in a Red Bull was a powerful combination that wa virtually unbeatable, but when Vettel made his move to Ferrari to take the next step in his career, things went wrong for the racer.
Being a part of Scuderia Ferrari, the oldest and most successful F1 team in the world, is an honor that every single motorsports racer wants to attain in his life. When Sebastian Vettel went to the Maranello outfit after four consecutive victories with Red Bull, his fans were certain that Sebastian Vettel would unlock an even better form once he is settled at Ferrari, and then there would be no stopping him. But proving every prediction wrong, Seb went on to have one of the most disappointing phases of his career at Ferrari, since he could not win a single World Championship with the Scuderia.
Marc Surer comments on Sebastian Vettel’s lack of a Championship win ever since he moved to Ferrari
Being a close friend and follower of the legendary German F1 racer Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel always had the idea in mind that he needed to go to Ferrari at the peak of his form. Michael Schumacher had won seven F1 titles with the Italian team, and as his fellow German racer, Vettel wanted to follow his footsteps and achieves similar results as a Ferrari driver. But all went wrong for Vettel when he started his career at the Scuderia.
In 2014, when Sebastian Vettel could not even get a single Grand Prix victory with Red Bull, he decided to make the move to Ferrari in hopes of better race results. Seb was in the Scuderia for 6 seasons, and every time, the fifth Championship title seemed to slip from his hands.
Speaking of Vettel’s time in Ferrari with zero F1 titles, former Swiss racer Marc Surer said, “Of course it’s a shame that he only won titles with Red Bull. It would have been nice if he had won another title with Ferrari, because that’s a bit of a shadow.”
He also said, “I mean, he really did something sensational. He also won races that you shouldn’t actually win. For me, that’s always the difference between a super driver and a good driver.”
“If you don’t have the fastest car and still win the race, only very, very few can do that and Sebastian Vettel is one of them. That’s why I classify him as one of the really big ones.”
