The Sainz family is going through a difficult time after the sudden death of Antonio Sainz Rebollo, grandfather of the young Ferrari pilot Carlos Sainz Jr.. A death that, without a doubt, has left a void in all Spanish motorsports. Prayers and condolences were sent to the 25-year-old’s family from all across the world. Real Madrid, a legendary football club, also sent their sympathy to the family.

Antonio has been a successful businessman guilty of forming the most important and successful family in Spanish motorsports. However, he never had a special fondness for the motor world, unlike his children. Carlos Sr. was able to develop a passion for motorsports in part because of the Renault 5 that Antonio had purchased for him.

Sainz Sr. got the opportunity to play for the Real Madrid Academy youth squad in the 1980s before dedicating himself entirely to motorsport and becoming a two-time rally champion. Over the years, the Sainz family has taken pride in Los Blancos and Carlos Sainz Jr. has proudly spoken about his ties with Real Madrid. When the Formula One star visited the rival city of Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix, he was seen in a Real Madrid jersey after the 2022 UCL final in Paris.

Owing to the connection they had with the Sainz family patriarch, Real Madrid expressed their sympathies on the occasion of his death. They issued a statement on Twitter expressing their “deep lament” on the passing of Antonio Sainz Rebollo. They also send their prayers and condolences to the Sainz family.
