Ferrari to remove paint amongst other technical upgrades to edge out Max Verstappen and Red Bull: Report

Ferrari F1-75

This year with the new regulations, all the teams like Ferrari, Haas, have tried to make their comeback on the grid, and they have successfully done so. Ferrari had an amazing start to the season, which made them stand on top of the constructors’ championship, but after the Miami GP, it was evident that Ferrari needed to upgrade their car to compete with the Red Bulls.

In recent reports, team principal Mattia Binotto said that Ferrari were going to upgrade their cars before the Spanish Grand Prix to become competitive enough again, so that they do not lose to Red Bull like they did in Imola and Miami.

It has also been reported at the same time by Motorsport, that Ferrari could possibly remove some paint off of their F1-75, so that the car becomes much lighter and travel faster.

Scuderia Ferrari already have the lightest paint on the grid, which works to their advantage, but it is being reported that they could let go off some more paint.

They could remove the clear paint on the car, which gives the car a shine, it could save up to 700 grams of weight.

It is similar to what Williams did some time back, scraping off paint to make their car lighter and hence, faster.

Along with Ferrari, Red Bull to get lighter, too.

In interesting news, it is also being said that Red Bull would be upgrading their car more, which would mean new parts on the car that would make the car 3 – 5 kilograms lighter. Red Bull have had the most upgrades in this year until now.

The team principal of Scuderia Ferrari also pointed out that Red Bull would soon have to stop upgrading, because they are doing it so fast, and the budget cap won’t let them upgrade in some time.

He also stated that there was only a very small gap between the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and Red Bull of Max Verstappen in the Miami GP.

As of now, Ferrari stand on top of the constructors’ championship with 157 points, closely being followed up by Red Bull with 151 points.
